How do I publish my app?

When you are ready to publish your app, click "Release This App" in your app dashboard, this takes you to Release Candidate state (your app will be reviewed by the Mxit team before it can enter this state). Once it's approved, you'll be able to click "Publish This App", and it will be reviewed before it goes live and is listed in the Mxit Tradepost.

How long does the app Publish review process take?

Mxit works to review your apps quickly, with app approvals usually occuring in 48 hours (excluding weekends and public holidays).

Where can I find my app after it's been published?

There are two places where you can find your app. Either via Tradepost or Apps

To find your app on Tradepost, open the Mxit client and go to Tradepost -> Games -> Play Now, then choose "Applications" or "Games", based on the type of app you've submitted. You will be able to find it there a few hours after your app is published.

To find your app on Apps, open the Mxit client and go to Apps - Search and type in the name of your app. Or simply browse Apps by Category or Games by Category to find your find (check your developer dashboard for the category should you have forgotten it).

I'm interested in building a Mxit application but don't have any programming experience.

First off, you could always learn to program! :) There are plenty of free online resources (google 'learn to program'), and cloud hosting platforms like Heroku. Once you know how to program, you can look at using the Mobi Portal API to build Mxit applications. if you have questions along the way, you can always post to the Mxit Developer Forums and talking with our developer community.

If you don't have time to learn how to program, you can either talk to one of the third-party developers already building Mxit applications and hire them to build your app for you, or use a site-building application like Mobicanvas to build a simple Mxit content application.

How do I register as a developer on Mxit?

Step 1: 
Go to the developer registration page on code.mxit.com/Account/register.aspx

Step 2:
Fill in the “Register Now” form

Your username can be a combination of characters and numbers and does not need to be your Mxit display name. Provide a valid e-mail address (you will receive an activation e-mail where you need to validate your e-mail details in order for your developer account to be activated). 

Choose a password you will remember. The Mxit ID you enter needs to be valid, and preferably one you want to be associated with your developer account. Click the confirmation that you have read and accepted the Terms and Conditions.
Once you have filled in all the correct details (and the Captcha credential), click on Register.

Once you click on register, you will see the “successful registration” page.

Step 3: Validate your developer account by clicking on the link in the activation e-mail.

This e-mail is sent from “api-no-reply@mxitlifestyle.com”, if you don’t receive it within 30 minutes, check your SPAM folder, and if it’s still not there, please log a support ticket (see details below under “Troubleshooting”).


This is what the e-mail looks like, and you will have to click on the “Activate My Mxit Developer Account” link.

Once you have successfully activated your account, you will be able to log into your developer dashboard.

Step 4:
Log into dev.mxit.com with your developer username and password, where you will be able to create a Mxit App. 

 

Troubleshooting:

Q: I just created my account and I’m using the correct log in credentials but it says “Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again” . What am I doing wrong? 
A:  You probably did not verify your e-mail address. Please search for an e-mail from: “api-no-reply@mxitlifestyle.com” and click on the “Activate My Mxit Developer Account” link. If you are unable to locate this e-mail visit: Developer Support Centre a log us a ticket under Technical Support from the email address you created the profile on. 

Q: I requested a new password, and I’m copying and pasting it from the e-mail and I know my username is correct but I’m getting “Your login attempt was not successful.  Please try again.”  Why am I seeing this error?
A: If you have not verified your e-mail address, you won’t be able to log in with any password. Please search for an e-mail from: “api-no-reply@mxitlifestyle.com” and click on the “Activate My Mxit Developer Account” link. If you unable to locate this e-mail visit: Developer Support Centre a log us a ticket under Technical Support from the email address you created the profile on.

Q: Why can't I update my App Info from my developer dashboard?
A: When you are trying to update this information from the Apps Details page you will need to supply all three fields before the dashboard will allow you to save this information. Please note the little red * next to the field name indicating if you have missed a particular field which is needed.
